The Pan-Asian American Community House (PAACH) at the University of Pennsylvania was officially founded on November 11th, 2000 through persistent student leadership and faculty support. To celebrate fifteen memorable years of its service, support, and enriching presence to the Penn community, a large quilt will be made to symbolize how this cultural resource center has been a "home away from home" for students for more than a decade. Starting January 2015, PAACH will be accepting fabric patch submissions from members of the Penn community, students, alumni, and staff. These patches will then be trimmed, laid out, and sewed together on the quilt, with the finished piece scheduled to be presented at the 15th anniversary celebration banquet, on November 7, 2015.
Every Quilt Tells a Story
Our quilt will be made up of fabric patches by students, alumni, faculty, and members of the PAACH community. Each patch represents a relationship between the individual and the place they come from. Whether the patch is cut from an old high school t-shirt, or it’s a textile pattern that is reminiscent of something worn on a loved one, we welcome all
our submitters to include a brief story about their patch. By bringing everyone’s patches together, we build a larger narrative together.
